On August 1st, 2025, the new cybersecurity requirements introduced under the RED by the European Commission will officially come into force.
These measures aim to strengthen the cybersecurity of wireless and connected devices, such as mobile phones, smartwatches, fitness trackers and similar products, to better protect both consumers and network infrastructure across the EU.
This regulatory change represents a significant step forward in the EU’s digital resilience strategy. However, it also introduces considerable technical and organizational challenges for producers, importers and distributors of connected products.
